BioSafety Level 3 Laboratory The IMM houses a 70 m2 BSL3 Facility meeting the highest safety standards as defined by European and International guidelines. Work to be carried out in this Facility includes all experimental procedures involving Mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV and other biosafety level 3 pathogens. The Facility is available to IMM internal and affiliated researchers, as well as to external researchers from academia, pharma and biotech. Applications to use the IMM’s BSL3 laboratories are reviewed and must be approved by the Facility’s Director and Scientific Commission. All rooms meet the highest safety standards as defined by European and International guidelines. Work to be carried out in this Facility includes all experimental procedures involving Mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV and other biosafety level 3 pathogens. The IMM’s BSL3 laboratories follow strict admission rules. Accordingly, the Facility will provide education, training and guidance for researchers and will be constantly monitored by fully dedicated staff. The Facility is available to IMM internal and affiliated researchers, as well as to external researchers from academia, pharma and biotech. Applications to use the IMM’s BSL3 laboratories are reviewed and must be approved by the Facility’s Director and Scientific Commission before access is granted. Slots and Prices Entry and usage of the BSL3 rooms are charged according to the Price Table below. We charge an entrance fee plus the amount of time used in the rooms, which is logged by each user. Work outside this hours needs to be specifically authorized by the Facility supervisor. How to use the service In order to use the BSL3 Facility, the PI responsible for the project must fill in and submit the appropriate Application Form, which will be reviewed by the Facility Director and the Scientific Commission. All new users must undergo specific BSL3 training before access to the Facility can be granted. Due to the nature of the work to be carried out in the BSL3 laboratories of the IMM, users will be closely monitored and must adhere to strict rules of conduct inside the Facility.
